What would be poundage of those bows at 31 or 32?

Also, do you have any photos (of both)?

Thanks!

Very nice :-) What is it made of?

On a side - those fletchings in the OP seem quite long. How do you draw them back without ruffling them?

Jchocz - impressive! What are the dimensions? And do you not have problems with arrows falling out / the quiver overbalancing?

If you want to go down the leather route, try boiling a piece, and then making it to the same shape as a horn ring. It works very well and is easy to make. I prefer them to simple tabs - more protective for your thumb segment, more control, and a slicker release.

The quiver itself doesn't look difficult to make, but I'm not sure I would trust it to carry the arrows without falling. Are they effectively sandwiched tight between two pieces of leather or something?

I guess the placement of the straps is also fairly critical to stop it overbalancing.

A quiver like this is on my "to make" list. I've ordered the stuff for it recently, so I guess I will start work in the next few weeks.

Hey all!

Was wondering if anyone knew the differences in construction, maintenance, performance of the following:
1. Hwarang bow
2. Horn-bellied and bamboo-bellied hwarang
3. Fibreglass laminated bow sold by Y M Jang
4. Semi-horn bow sold by Y M Jang
5. Horn and sinew Korean bows
6. Any others (like Kaya, or Samick ....)

(and also just because it seems like an appropriate chance to mention: the Mongolian bow sold by Y M Jang)

I figured this would be a good place to discuss.
Thanks!

Thomas, out of curiosity, is there a bilingual edition of your book (Korean with English), or one of the joseoneui gungsul?
