Topic: Remington Rolling Block Navy Pistol

I recently bought an 1867 Remington Rolling Block Navy pistol.  To be sure, I spent waaaaaay too much, but I think it's worth it.  It is a black powder cartridge arm, .50 caliber, centerfire.  The RRB Navy pistol just prior to this model, the 1866 Navy Pistol, was also .50 caliber, but rimfire and had a spur trigger without guard.  My current goal is to prepare for the cartridges I will handload this summer; I will probably use Spencer 56-50 brass, cut down to 0.86", along with a 340gr. bullet modified to 300gr., sitting on a 23gr. black powder charge.

Below is the pistol that will be waiting for me when I visit back to Michigan this summer.  The picture below that is a comparison of the cartridge for a .50-45 RRB carbine (L) and the 1867 pistol (R).
