Topic: SMG bow for sale - basically unused! 60# @ 31

Dear friends,

Unfortunately, I have to let go of a wonderful, just about brand new bow I purchased from another forumite a year ago. I have never used it, as after I purchased it, I suffered a relapse of a bad elbow injury that basically prevented me from picking up a cup of coffee without experiencing pain; forget about drawing a 60# bow! Went through physical therapy all fall, but now have to build back up with  my wife's 40 pounder.

So this is an SMG bow; bought by the fellow forumite in January of 2014; sold a month after to me. As I wrote, I never used it. It is in absolutely new condition. The owner put a beaver tail handle and strike plates on the bow. As he wrote, they look great and the handle provides a sure grip. It is easily removed if you want.

The bow originally posted for $265, plus shipping and PayPal fees of 3%. I would offer it for $250 plus shipping and PayPal fees.

Let me know-- This is a fantastic price for a pristine SMG!

(side note: looks like I'm not the only one who has to sell a bow bc of an injury. For everyone else: hope you all treat archery as a physical activity like any other one --running, weight lifting! -- and warm up your wrists, arms, and back before you shoot a two hundred arrows at the range...)

60 pounds is a bit much, or I'd be on it. Good luck with your sale.  smile

Okay - hope you enjoy it!

My last message got cut off. I had written: 60# AT 31" is around 48-50# at 28" draw length... just in case anyone missed the draw length I posted! Bow still available...

Looking forward,

Michael

Hi, David, thanks for your interest! Would you happen to know how to post pictures on this forum? Otherwise I would have to email you them separately. In which case, could you send me your email address through PM? Thanks much, Michael

Hmm, have been trying to get an SMG bow of 55# at 31 inches. I suppose 60 isn't that much more. What type of SMG bow is it? Do you have any pictures? I assume you're located in the US, yes? Would you ship to Europe?

Also, if I'm not mistaken SMG bows are not centre-strung and the string is slightly offset to allow the arrow to clear the riser more easily. I'm a right handed thumb ring shooter so I'd need a bow with a bowstring situated to the right. Could you check how it is with your bow?

I am located in the US and would certainly ship to Europe. In terms of the type of SMG bow/string offset, I will check and should be able to get back to you by this weekend. Looking forward!

Haha, those pictures are a bit small tongue Can't really inspect it beforehand so I want to do a quicky visual check see it to see what state it is in.

Which typeof SMG bow  is it tho? Bamboo, artificial horn or laminated horn?

Has the bow weight been measured? My SMG's sticker weight is 50# but measures 60#@31.5"

Re: SMG bow for sale - basically unused! 60# @ 31

Sorry--no, I didn't do a formal measurement...just reading off of numbers on bow--

I measured several SMG bows, manufactured between 2009 and 2011, and all of them had the draw weight that was advertised at around 29". The force-draw graphs are somewhere on the forum. 4 lbs/in is about right in the last few inches, for a bow of 50#

Is the draw weight given for SMG bows measured at 31 or at 29 inches? Because I can manage a 60# at 31.5 inch bow as that would be something like 45 at 28 inches, right? If it's 60# at 29 inches I wouldn't be able to use it.

Hi,

Please see below for larger pictures:

I have strung the bow, and it looks completely center strung--no different than my YMG bow.

I believe this is the carbon-bellied bow, though I would ask other members to look at the photos and verify. To be honest, I was so excited to buy an SMG bow in such good condition that carbon vs. artificial horn didn't make a difference to me. It's not the water buffalo horn bow, though.

It it helps, I would estimate the draw weight at 30" to be around 55-56#; at 31" to be 60# as is written on the bow.  Absolutely not 60# at 29" - that's too much!

Re: SMG bow for sale - basically unused! 60# @ 31

Ah, that's a shame. In that case it's not really worth it to me. I can drive down to a store in the Netherlands and buy a ewKTB korean bow for about 180 dollars, shooting it for a bit and choosing the exact right draw weight. I'd only go through the hassle and extra costs of importing for the more authentic looking laminated horn bow. Sorry. Good luck with selling it!
