Topic: Making bows

Anyone had any experience with this?

I wonder how the bamboo has to be treated in, say, the Song Mu Gung bamboo bow for it to work well enough. Would it be significantly harder to make a bamboo korean bow than a bhutanese style one? Would one need specially good quality bamboo? Sinew backing??

I've also thought of removing the synthetic cloth from my bow and putting birch bark, though I don't think I'll do that. It'd look nice.

I suppose a PVC bow would be good enough for getting started with korean archery. Perhaps one would have to tiller the upper limb weaker (so it bends more???) for the pushing forward thing. I don't get how the narrow limbs would make the torque work better, but 1/2" pipe would allow for pretty narrow limbs and would be easier to work with than 3/4" pipe
