Re: Kaya Khan arrived

The reason I opted for the Khan is the window for holding the arrow and the relatively short length.  I have a dozen 2219 fatboys that are good for 32" draw.  Now that I know the Khan can't be drawn to 32", what bows with window and about 48" in length do you guys recommend?  In fact, what is the maximum draw weight of the bow that allows the use of the 2219?

What was the reply, replacing the bow?   hmm

Re: Kaya Khan arrived

Warbow, the khan is not meant for thumbring draw!!!! No way! It's meant for traditional archery 3 finger or 2 finger to be shot with fingers off the shelf not to be used in any thumbring draws past 29 or so inches! Why would you even try that??  hmm   You are lucky the bow didn't break on you my friend, very lucky... It is a western style compact recurve in the traditional shape/look of a horn/horse bow, meant to be shot off the rest with fingers. Mine starts to stack around 30" though when I pulled back a bit further from my 29" fingers draw. I have gotten very accurate with it and it is a fun bow to shoot. It was not designed to be shot with thumbring, their KTB which you know is meant for thumbing draw. Consider yourself lucky you did not get hurt. It was like trying to do a thumbing draw on a regular recurve bow, of course it will break.

Oh dear, I have been pulling the Khan quite a few times to 32" today.  I heard a cracking sound from the last pull.  Upon closer inspection of the lower limb, I found a slim and narrow piece of fiberglass or wood that is de-laminated or splintered off.  I immediately unstrung the Khan.    sad   Not a good start . . .

So the khan wouldn't be suitable for me if I'm drawing 31" using 3 fingers ? drat sad

Re: Kaya Khan arrived

alxx,
The KTB works just dandy with a 3 finger draw, you'd be shooting off your hand rather than off a shelf, but that's really no big deal.

Scruffy geezer shooting a 40# Khan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofp2Z35YuG0 , really fun to watch, it´s fast and smooth, now i´m in doubt whether to get a Khan or Windfighter, i´m aware of the differences, and i never fancied the KTB.
Look at this KTB http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nedFbg7W … re=related not even closer to the Khan in speed, it might be the way he´s releasing, but it´s a lot slower.

Re: Kaya Khan arrived

We have to take into account the mass of the different arrows.  The Khan user shot carbon arrows while the KTB user shot home-made bamboo arrows.

Re: Kaya Khan arrived

You mean the bamboo shaft is lighter than a carbon? I always thought otherwise.

Re: Kaya Khan arrived

Carbon is indeed lighter than bamboo. Bamboo is great......but heavier than carbon.

Re: Kaya Khan arrived

Yes, it is.  There are heavier carbon shafts out on the market.
