Topic: No more horn

I just received word that horn products out of the Philippines are now going to become, essentially, non-existent, as the Philippine gov't has decided to, as my supplier wrote, "require a string of legal papers which I cannot produce in order to get [an] export permit". That means my thumb ring and horn nock supply is now at an end. I will just finish off my stock and then that's that.

I would be, as long as the artisan crafting the rings goes along with the deal...

Would you please elaborate "goes along with the deal"?

If you want horns cut into specific sizes and specific direction, I will try to ask the suppliers.  smile

I need more than just horns--I need quality products (and the price needs to be competitive).  My last supplier made thumb rings, blocks, arrow nocks, etc., to my specifications.

Re: No more horn

I see, the product need some craftsmanship skill.
Would you like to get some sample? You may send me some product specifications and offer price. I will show them to the artisan and let you know if he would like to join.

These are sample of his work.
Five of them on the left were made under my specification  smile

They look nice.  I would probably ask for the upper "lip" to be done away with and replaced with a "dip".  Please contact me at goongdo@hotmail.com and we can talk more about specifics.  If I can get a new supplier of horn products, that would be great.

Here in the U.S. Of A. I use bison horn.

Re: No more horn

I really like the lip as opposed to the dip because it allows for fasting nocking and shooting. The dip gets in the way in horsearchery because if you nock quickly the string may slip off of it if you draw too quickly.

Re: No more horn

Thank you will, my horn is in the post. All our cows here get their horns cut for safety reasons so horn is hard to come by. I think most of them come from the thrid world these days where they don't do that .
