Welcome.

This site is not as active as it used to be but still lots of information about.

I am primarily on FB, Reddit and Discord these days for example.

We'll take what we can get...not like anything else is really being discussed heavily here these days so whatever new info that is illuminating to some degree, especially if its Korean archery oriented, is welcomed.

What would be nice is a good discussion on 'torque' techniques from a Korean source (with the actual characters and Korean name for this) and in what context the technique should be used in exactly.   It seems to be, in name, jumbled up with the term 'khatra' these days thanks to the ATARN FB group but also here I noticed a bit.  'Khatra', a term that the Mamluke Taybugha writes of during his time in the 1300s Middle East, is to my understanding, a forward rotational technique and should not be mixed up or associated with the 'torque' that the Koreans use.

Gojachaegi or Gojachaeim are the two terms for Korean follow through.

Described in this article

I would recommend using Google translate on the page.

Yes. I am finding that out.

South Korea is a curious juxtaposition of high-tech and tradition.

What I wasn't expecting was the chokehold Naver has on e-commerce.

One cannot simply register on a website, and buy a bow online in many cases. There is a strict "domestic only" built into the websites, some of which are quite basic by western standards.

Hi all, i thought I'd share some of the links to Bowyer's and shops i found relating to Korean Archery.

Some are domestic for the Korean market, but with Google translate, it's interesting to see the different kind of bows in the market.

Some of the shops export worldwide.

How did you get on, what did you get in the end?

I recently had the same dilemma, as i was looking to up poundage and these were available from Merlin Archery in the UK.

I think someone said that the Dragon and Warrior use high modulus carbon compared to the basic models but this is not substantiated by evidence.

These are all made by Skybowsports/ Haneul  so i think the warrior and dragon are naked HMGs.

However in the end, I opted for an ex display SMG #45 for about the same cost to a Warrior plus delivery. Just waiting for it to ship now from Korea. Will give a review and compare to my 40# JMG when it arrives.

Interesting, no site but you can go to the guy in the video and he will be your middle man I'm guessing.  Pass.  Considering that almost everyone in the world now has either a web page, etsy, ebay, or FB account etc. etc.

In other news: its come to my attention that SMG's site has gone away.  hmmmm.....

I've bought my Jeil / Cheil JMG directly from this site.

http://m.koreanarchery.com/us/goods/goo … cateCd=002

Both the JIG and JMG are Cheil/ Jeil bows.

Jude Park from Korean Archery Shop, has been very helpful and the purchase process has been relatively easy, given the language barrier.

Hi all

I'm a new member living in the Isle of Man.

For those not familiar with it, it's, a small Island in the Irish Sea in the geographical centre of the British Isles, famous for the TT motorcycle races.

I'm a new archer (since December 2022) and new to Korean Archery, since I bought a 35# 53" Freddie Archery Nomad Black Shadow in February 2023.

I've been practicing since then, and doing field / 3d archery with it.

I recently bought my second Korean Bow, a 40# 50" Jumong Gung / JMG by Jeil / Cheil (in the attached image)

I'm looking to keep practising and develop good form with both bows.

Looking forward to discussing form, tips and Korean bows with you all.

I'm on several groups on face book, like ATARN, Asiatic Archery, UK thumbshooters and Korean Traditional Archery: Learning the way of the bow

PS.  I'm also on Tik Tok
