I've also started noticing that I get a bit of limb twist on the upper limb after I shoot for a while.  Seems like the string wants to rest a bit to the right of the string bridge?  Is this normal?

Hello everyone,

It's been a while now shooting the Kaya and my arrows are still hitting very far to the right of where I expect the shot to hit unless I cant the bow clockwise quite a bit.  Even then, my shots tend to hit to the right and I have to aim farther up than compared to my Mediterranean draw.

I seem to hear a bit of riser slap from the arrow as the string moves around the thumb and index finger but I am going to try torquing the bow hand counter-clockwise a bit to see if that helps (although this goes against every fiber of my training while shooting my compound!)

I shot through paper and at 10 yards, while canting the bow w/ a Med. draw, the arrow is shooting bullet holes so I know the spine is probably not the issue.

Thoughts anyone?

Well, after daily practicing of my draw with the leather tab, my thumb no longer feels like I'm stepping on it.

I've learned to press the tip of my thumb firmer against my middle finger and the index finger is no longer pushing my thumb against the string so heavily.

I still can't pull all the way back to a full Korean draw but I can anchor and hold with the thumb right behind my jaw (similar to my mech. release anchor) for 10-15 seconds w/o trembling.  Still need to practice and improve my strength/endurance.

Note to bluelake: Do you still offer thumb rings for sale, if so how much?

Well, I just made a thumb tab out of a piece of old leather belt and drew my 64# compound and.....it feels just like I'm stepping on my thumb!  I suppose that's normal until the thumb gets use to the pressure.

This is the best video illustration of proper stringing I have seen so far!  Bowyer is Mr. H M Go according to Y M Jang's comments.

It just occurred to me that I could try using an old leather belt to create a thumb "tab".  Hmm....I will experiment this weekend.

I'd love to meet any enthusiasts around here.  I spend quite a bit of time at the range and at TEXINS Archery Club.

Sounds like "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano".

I know the tradition is to make one's own thumb ring but I'm somewhat tool deficient.  Is there a recommended source for a standard lipped thumb ring? I'd like to learn how to shoot with one but until I find one I will probably stick with my release.  smile  Don't hate me!

I admire anyone with the patience and knowledge of how to craft their own arrows.

How are you keeping the nocking point consistent?  Brass nock?  Tie-in nock?  I know it's probably heresy but anyone try shooting with a release?

Just ordered a 55# Kaya KTB from 3 Rivers Archery so I will be glad to offer my impression.  I have only shot compound bows before so this will be a new experience for me.
