Topic: Carbon Bamboo Arrows

This past Monday, I visited the maker of the Hwarang bows.  He also makes and sells carbon arrows.  His most recent accomplishment is a carbon arrow that looks just like a bamboo arrow.  Not only that, but it has an insert for screw-in points!  It only needs a little work to make the fletching look a bit better, but it's going to be a popular arrow.

The pics are not that clear, as they were taken with my iPod Touch, but you'll get the idea.

Re: Carbon Bamboo Arrows

I hope to put together some ordering info soon, including price, but I just found out about them myself.

Actually, it's not a bamboo wrap--the design is part of the carbon shaft.

The arrows look awesome!  I hope the shafts are available in 35" length.  Here is an example of a carbon arrow with wood outer layer:

Re: Carbon Bamboo Arrows

What kind of nocks are those? I have been looking for some nocks similar to that to use on my Gold tip traditional carbon arrows, instead of the bright white bohning ones. Also, I investigated using a full length arrow wrap in carbon fiber picture graphic print, but it would add too much weight and bulk to the carbon arrow blank. I guess we will have to wait and see when these are ready for sale.. They look amazing. Wish gold tip did some traditional arrows in bamboo print, but there just isn't enough of a demand for them in the american market at the moment I guess.

Re: Carbon Bamboo Arrows

Exactly where the nocks came from, I'm not sure.  You might like to check with Three Rivers, as they now sell both horn and bone nocks.

Re: Carbon Bamboo Arrows

Easton Flatlines come in 33" length for their 0.400 splined arrows which is the same spline as the Gold Tip 55/75s that I find to work well with my 50# KTB and they are 7.4 grains per inch, think I'll be getting a dozen shafts as soon as I figure that I have enough points.

Re: Carbon Bamboo Arrows

If the manufacturer can make a barrelled and 35" version for very strong bows, there will be buyers . . .

Not a lot of buyers, but buyers yes tongue hopefully me one day. You draw 35" with a Korean bow?!?!!?!!
Barreled carbon arrows? That'd be new..

Re: Carbon Bamboo Arrows

I inquired about these a while ago.  They're so cool looking, but also sooooo very expensive particularity from a comparative aspect.  So much so that I had to politely decline.  Price was 25 dollars for one arrow.  And you have to buy in units of 5.  So that puts you at 125 USD total.  Compared to just regular Korean carbon arrows you pay 60 USD for 5.  Things get really hefty looking if you want a 10 set.  I believe the beautiful expensive bamboo looking ones are the YM-2 while the YM-1's are your less expensive 'regulars'.

Other thing to consider is these were 2012 prices.  Things may have changed.

Re: Carbon Bamboo Arrows

Where do you get 10 for 120? Still quite expensive. It's 10 for $190 in koreanbow.com..
