Re: Bamboo arrow spine

A feather burner will produce better results.

Tip for cutting fletchings.
Cut the fletching to the required length and glue them to the arrow. Apply masking tape to both sides of the feather. Make a template of your choice and mark around this with a pen. Using a nice sharp scissors, cut around the shape and then peel off the remaining tape to reveal the fletching.

Thanks, I'll have a try!

WarBow, a matter of opinion wouldn't you say? I've used both which is why I suggested cutting. Much nicer  wink

Just got some 100 cm shafts from oulay bamboo today.
They came very straight, polished and spine rated.
I will try them very soon.

Those look pretty nice! How have they worked out for you? Any breakage problems? Did they give you a spine rating or a bow weight rating? I'm looking at ordering some completed arrows with target points and some with broad heads. Any recommendations ? I shoot a 55 and 60# SMG bow.

Re: Bamboo arrow spine

Sorry for late reply. just recover from laptop damage.
55-60 rating is doing ok for my #50 SMG bow
I do not think they have complete arrows for you as they are bamboo dealer.
The only drawback is their nodes are not perfectly match. Although one node at the nocking end but the others are not aligned.
If you dont want a lot of arrows, my friend bought complete arrows from http://www.chinabambooarrow.com/en/f/Im … father.jpg and nodes are perfectly match.

Hope your laptop is fixed now. That looks like a pretty good site, ill have to check it out more.  Oulay has some arrows and heads but we will have to see how they shoot. http://www.oulay.com/product.asp?classid=16&kkk=14
This link shows the arrows

I talked with Mike -- mikelin@oulay.com
My funds got kinda scarce so I have the order on hold for now. $3.95 per arrow with field point plus shipping. Shafts with nock only were $1 each plus shipping.
Hope that helps

Gukgung,

Since you are in BC as well the shipping should be about the same. What is the charge for shipping of your arrows and how many did you order? I would be very happy if I could get built arrows for $4 bucks an arrow.

Send Mike a note and he will tell you exactly how much it will cost. I did a mix and match of broadheads and field points so the prices won't be exact --- 50 arrows --- cost was just under $300. Around 5.86 per arrow if you average it out.  If you increase the number of arrows the shipping cost per arrow goes down.

Re: Bamboo arrow spine

Thanks I will likely do that.

Re: Bamboo arrow spine

I just received arrows from Oulay. I ordered 30 finished arrows, 15 for me and 15 for a friend and 30 bare shafts. Shipped with customs tax it came to just under $300 Canadian and took 17 days to get here from China.

I am anxious to shoot them when I get a chance. I shot a couple and they seemed to fly all over but that was likely me. I have learned my draw length is 32" though.
