Topic: SMG bow string

Hi, Everyone,

I recently purchased an excellent SMG Song Mu Gong bow from a fellow forumite and am very excited to try it. Issue is, the bow string may have gotten misplaced when I was transporting the bow. In any case, even when and if I find the original string, I would need a backup.

- Does anyone know how one would figure out the proper string length for a bow if the original isn't around?

- Also, where would one find a bow string suitable for the SMG bow in the US?

Thanks for any and all help!

Thumbs up

Re: SMG bow string

I checked the SMGs I have here and the string lengths are nearly the same as those for YMG.  When strung with a YMG string, the SMG still had a good brace height.

Re: SMG bow string

Quite a few shops sell KTB bow strings which must be compatible http://www.koreanbow.com/shop/index.php … er=product

Or you can order a string be made from most shops (or make it yourself) as long as you know the dimensions:
T=119cm A,B=9.5cm S=9.5cm D=0(bottom of serving starts at the center of string)
The string is an 18 strand fastflight, 3.4mm thick at the nocking point (incl serving)
(Going by this convention http://fairbowshop.nl/images/bogen/Klompwebsite.jpg)
