Where do I get good inserts for screw on points / broadheads for use with Bamboo shafts?

Thanks in advance.

You might want to email Helmut at Arrow Fix: http://www.archers-review.com/arrows-an … w-fix-tool

Will, the adaptor is for wooden parallel shafts.  It is a really convenient device for screwing in different types of broadheads depending on different types of games at the ranch.

Thread for screw in inserts is 8-32 UNC.  The ATA standard can be found here:

I think one might be able to drill a bamboo shaft out to minor diameter, fill the void with epoxy thinned with a bit of acetone and then tap it when dry.  You'd want to wrap the end very securely with thread or ribbon and cover that with thinned epoxy or multiple coats of lacquer.  Of course, you could just drill the hole big enough to fit and epoxy the point in permanenty, without messing with tapping the thread.

I've done that with Korean bamboos that lost their point for one reason or another--it worked out pretty well.

Yes, I knew what they were and what they were used for, I thought that's what bjarup     was looking for, but I just had another thought when someone mentioned the 8-32 threaded insert. I had preveiously considered trying to drill a hole in the end of bamboo shafts and installing these as a way to have replaceable heads. However, the outside diameter of these inserts are right at .250 (1/4") - which, on an 11/32 shaft, would only leave a .048 wall thickness to the arrow shaft. (less than 1/16") Not enough to suit me, ..................... BUT..
(another alternative) are we familiar with the HIT inserts, the ones used in the "skinny" shafts,
like Easton's Axis, and Beman's MFX ? These are .203 diameter, thus leaving a wall thickness on an 11/32" shaft of .071 (1/16" plus) Admittedly not a big difference, but I think they would work, with some reenforcement around the end of the shaft. The HIT inserts are set deeper into the shaft, but the shank of all threaded heads are the same diameter as the inserts, so the shaft would be supported.
