Hello EM,

sorry for late reply:

I have not yet got a 52" KTB because after waiting without result a month or so  I bougth an Hungarian style bow.

Local dealer  reported that  Kaya admitted to have a ( labeling /boxing/shipping ? ) problem with the 52" KTB; your experience confirm me that is at least a 2 years old problem.

But I did the  mistake of selling my old 48" KTB ;  I think I'll buy again a KTB either in 50" or 52" length if available.
I lack too much KTB speed, absence of handshock, easy handling and accuracy.
If only the fabric decoration had a differnt pattern or no pattern at all    roll

How are these bows measured? Strung, nock to nock or unstrung along the belly?

They have been measured nock to nock, unstrung, along the back.
With this method we got 48" for the old bow ( correct ) and 50" for the two other bows whose boxes were labeld 52".
See also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGxmr_1iHm8  - perhaps this weekend I can post an English remake of the video.

Hi all,

I already own a Kaya KTB and its length is 48.
Recently I bougth from an Italian online shop a KTB XL  52".
This shop supply itself from a big shop in Netherland.
The bow  arrived with original KAYA box and its original KAYA label stated the length was 52" .
But comparing it with my previous KTB 48" I realized it was too short; after measuring it  resulted the
new bow was only 50" !

Making a short story: I asked for replace but also the replaced bow was only 50" while again the original KAYA
label on the box said 52".

Then I wonder if any massive mistake happened at KAYA during boxing process of a whole batch of bow.

Can you happy owners of KAYA KTB XL 52" ( if any ) measure please your bow length and post it ?

many thanks

Sissara, thank you for the hint, the only drawback could be putting handas on a cronograp to make some experiments.

My guess is the bow- arrow system efficiency decreases if overstressed, then a speed plateau if aroow too ligth - correct ?

Regards

Hi,

recently I bought some carbon arrows spined 500 and I'm  playing well with them without adding weight  at the tip.
The complete arrow weigths 330 grain.
My KAYA KTB bow is marked 45# and my draw length is about 32, then my guess is  50 - 55 # at full draw;
can i consider safe shooting above arrows ? I read some place that arrows must weigth 5 grain per pound of bow to be safe , then (330/55 = 6 grain per pound ) it should be safe.

But I don't know if KAYA KTB is built  respecting such requirement.

Anybody knows ?

BTW the chronograph measured speed of above setup is 205 fps - I had the chance to measure during a 3D tournament.

Being silver-colored, that is one of Kaya's early bows (they are now a kind of tan/brown); as such, I'm guessing it's a used bow.  That is quite a bit of grease or whatever; yeah, I'd try some kind of soft detergent.

Interesting, BlueLake, are there any important difference between early KTB and present one, apart of aestetics ?

I bougth  it as new from an Online italian shop...  uhm perhaps not used but very old and with years of stockage under the belt .

Done first try with wash detergent and now is better  but of course not excellent.

I'll try again once to clean it, then stop. The important thing is the performances  and on this side I'm not deceived  big_smile

Mine looked similar, quite as bad as yours, but similar.Washing detergent may help. How do you compare the KTB to other Korean bows you have shot?

Thank you for prompt reply, I'll try  and report on cleaning's results.

This is the first korean type bow I ever used.
Until now I shooted only Kassay and Kassay clones in the range 35# - 50# @31, measured and plotted.

This KTB is a 45# @31, not measured, only read on the package  .

Of course I shoot  only thumbring draw with this type of bows.

KTB  handle is wider than Kassay's  one , about 30%,  and this makes in my opinion a lot of difference at short distance: I have to resyncronize  my brain - eye - arm  because at present arrows go too much at right.
Not yet tested  at the range - it rains too much - only at home with a target  5 meter away
BTW  the arrows are 32" carbon spined 340  big_smile

Tested also with bamboo tonkin arrows spined 75-80# and results are very like, perhaps bamboo is a bit more forgiving.

KTB' draw is very smooth until you go near 31.5" - 32"   where it stacks.

Other impressions:
I confirm that comparing with my other 50# Kassay the hand recoil is non-existant.

For example  I remember the first times I started shooting Kassay, after a long shooting session I had some scare realizing  that I was no more able  to keep flat my hand and it was necessary a couple of days to recover.

But seems  not a weak bow despite its  feather weight and short length; not tested at long distance  but  at 5 meter the noise impact on the target with 600 grain tonkin arrow is impressive and like the stronger Kassay 50#.

To be honest I'm a bit disappointed because of stacking :  the KTB "wall" at 32" is impressive while Kassay can accomodate even more than a 33"  .

When testing at our 3D field  I'll report more

Regards

Stefano

The new Kaya KTB is arrived; I've tested it and shoots well.

Unfortunately she has a defect: there are some parts of covering limbs fabric that are very dirty, seems motor' grease, see attached pic - sorry, i realised not to be able to insert an image into the post.
Could somebody suggests me how the fabric can be cleaned ( with dishwashing detergent and water ?...  other cleaners ? )  or if there is any risk in doing so ?

I bougth it from an online dealer and as it seems only an aesthetic defect, I think it is not worth of starting a refund/return discussion with dealer.

Fine !    cool
This measure reassure me:  the cheapo bow I  started with learning thumb ring draw had about 1.06 at arrow pass and the resulting off center was  not  a problem.

The arrow goes over the handle, at the beginning of the upper limb.

Ok,  then I try to reformulate my question :

could someone please  measure the Kaya KTB  limb width at the point where the arrow passes ?

sweet, but what is your question?

..ah.ah..ah!

I'm very sorry! I realise only now that  uploading the post I lost  half of it   ! ( my fault of course ) sad  .

Then completing the post:

the kassays have an handle width of 18mm ( 0,7 inch ) ; as the handle widht is very important for  choosing the arrow spine I wonder  wich is the handle's width for a KTB,  because from pictures I see online the handle seems very wide.

Could somebody measure KTB handle width - of course at the point where the arrow passes ?

Thank you in advance

this time i'll double check the post will be fully published  big_smile

Hi all,

I'm more and more interested in buying a Kaya KTB; it is very like I will end to make an online deal, then without really testing the bow.

At present I use a couple of Kassay ( 36# and 50 #, both at 31
