I noticed there were only a few. Well, I doubt anyone I know has enough clout; Jeju is the island of exiles and outcasts after all. I guess I'm a 25th Dan then.

Thanks.

I want to continue doing Gung-Do in the U.K., once I return. Last time I practiced at a 'normal' archery club, at ranges from 20M to 90M. Anyway, I've thought of a place near where I live that may be large enough, isolated, and surrounded by rock on three sides; this place might make a suitable Gung-Do-Jang.

However, half of the Gung-Do experience is the people you do it with. That being the case, I may try and recruit some people. I was wondering if anyone can tell me the requirements set down by the Korean Gung-do Association for founding (or being recognized by them as) an official Jeong?

Otherwise I will be forced to found the British Gung-Do Association and promote myself to 25th Dan.

A bit late... but gloves for Kyuudo (traditional Japanese archery) may be suitable. They are often made from deerskin with a hardened thumb. They may, or may not, be easier to find than Korean stuff... Most of the Koreans I know make their own.

Hello all,

I live on the island of Jeju, and I practice Gungdo at ν•œλΌμ • (Jeju City). I signed up a while ago, and I read now and again, but I didn't introduce myself.

Archery is something I always wanted to do. So, while I was in Korea I decided that I should take up archery... They seem to know what they are doing. After a year and a half of practice I am a mighty 7th gup. I like to think that I am at least 5th gup material, but I don't do well in events. I'm hoping to stay in Korea for another year and a half. My aim? poor... Okay, it was a bad pun. To reach first dan.

Welcome and have a great time. I intend to go to SukHoJeong at some point (I think it is where my friend trained before he moved.), so maybe I'll catch you at some point in the future.

My advice is, don't think about hitting the target. My current aim is to get a molgi (5 out of 5), and whenever I get close to doing that... I start thinking, and then I miss. Just work on improving your technique (Mine is getting better; in fact, I've noticed my style change in the last week or so.) and consider hitting a bonus. If you can make precise shots (your shots cluster together, even if they miss), accuracy will come by itself in time.
