I find the thumb glove to work better for me.  I never got a feel for the ring.  I recommend maybe trying to make a leather thumb ring as well.

Since you already shoot a 50lb kaya,  I might go a little higher than 35lbs.  Maybe 45@31".  I would draw your Khan with your thumb and see how it feels.  What part of Norway are you from?  I just got back from there.  I brought my bow and shot arrows on the banks of the fjords.  It was beautiful.

I would start with a 45-50lb Korean bow.  Maybe the Ktb.  Then move up to the hwarang if you love the ktb.  Allot of shooting is up to your personal preference.  I find its good to not over think it.  It takes allot of practice and allot of trial and error.  Im not familiar with a flat bow, so I don't know how it compares to the Korean bows.  If you can comfortably pull your 50lb bow back with your thumb and hold it steady for ten seconds then you probably good with that weight.  If not then go lighter or start working out more.  It will take some time to get your thumb in condition as well.  Practice, practice, practice.  There is not perfect formula when it comes to archery, everyone is different.  Many cultures have archery masters that shoot completely different styles and bows.

I'm 6ft and recently got the larger Hwarang.  I draw roughly 32" under the ear.  I don't feel like I'm maxing out the bow at that draw length.  With the Kaya windfighter I also have, I do feel like it reaches the maximum draw length capabilities at 32".  The 36"-38" draw you want seems wild, I don't know if the janggung Hwarang can reach that.  I'm pretty sure they can make custom length bows for a little extra cash.  Message Bluelake for more info,  he can answer all your questions.  What part of California are you from?  There is a traditional Korean archery festival in Valley Center outside of San Diego in the beginning of Oct.

I've had mine for over a year with regular use and no problems yet.  Whats your draw length?  I have read lately people talking about how Kaya"s quality is not what it used to be and going downhill.  If so, thats a real shame because I love m windfighter and was planning on ordering more Kaya bows in the future.

Thank you bluelake.  Very helpful.  What is the shipping time on a Hwarang?  Also, from the ordering page it seems there is one style of Hwarang.  Is that correct?  Is the bow custom made for your personal dimensions or are they already constructed?  Just curious.   I would love to order one.  So,  would a bow at #50 @ 28" be roughly #55@31"/32"?
Thank you so much.  I love this forum.

I currently shoot a Kaya windfighter #55 and was thinking about upgrading to a Hwarang.  I'm curious how they compare to each other?  Will the Hwarang out last the Kaya with regular use?  Also do the Hwarangs need special care and are there different styles of Hwarang?  They seem to be the most popular and talked about.  Trying to buy a bow from a Korean web site is difficult if you can't read Korean.  If anyone knows of other web sites adapted for Americans wanting to buy a nice Korean bow would be very helpful as well.  Thank you.

I was curious about the KMG turkish.  How would you say it compares to the Kaya windfighter?  I shoot the windfighter at #55.  I know the KMG you shoot in the video is less in pounds, but I'm just wondering cause I was thinking of Getting a KMG.
