Yes clear shoe wax gives the birch bark enough protection. Beeswax may get a bit sticky when warmed by the Sun.
Oh, and shoe wax is ok for the bark. Not black, perhaps?

Interesting discussion since SMG has an English version of their website!! I wonder if anyone is taking into account that these bows have to be made by hand? For the ease of communication and quality of bow you may want to contact bluelake and order a Hwarang.
Hello Kokoro!! Bluelake sells what he calls the Hwarang bow at his website online. Just Google Hwarang bow and you'll find what you looking for along with contact info.
Hi djkoo and welcome to the forum!!
Starting with 35# pull for thumb ring is great if you're already pulling 30 lbs on your current bow.
The only bow listed that would not work for thumb release is the Kaya Khan as I think it made for shooting off the shelf. The Kaya ktb or nomad are good intro bows and cost less than the Hwarangs that you listed. You shouldn't need and armgard or glove if your shooting off the right side of the bow. Please read the threads in bows and thumb rings for better info from more experienced archers such as bluelake. Have fun!!
Great to see that they carry SMG's now!!
The Cartel will work fine for you as long as you can index it and get different clamps for it(Left,Right or Straight). I use straight 4 x 4 fletching on my Kaya same as dziki or a straight 3 fletch like the korean arrows usually are. For hunting with broadheads I use 5" helicals on my longbows. I like feather fletching on my arrows although many folks shoot with vanes on their Ktbs. It really is a matter of finding the combo that works for YOU!! As WillScarlet said a longer shaft and heavier point will weaken the spine and maybe improve your arrow flight.
Good to know who's actually active!! Thanks geoarcher.
Thanks Greyhamster!!
Very interesting info geoarcher. I could be wrong but I think Korea Quiver is Mechwars site.
Your probably right geoarcher!! Just another option. I'm shooting the Kaya ktb @ 50lb until I get my form correct and order a Hwarang from Prof. Duvernay. I would like to see the SMG info also if you could forward it to me Greyhamster!! Thank's for sharing your info folks and have a great weekend!!
KOREA GUNGSULWON sells the carbon SMG on Ebay. Same gent that posts as YMJANG007 on YouTube. Look it up as Korean Archery.
Glad to see you back on the forum dziki!!
I've found the advice given by bluelake to be invaluable!!
Same as WillScarlet!! And I also use a small piece of deer skin.
Hi Pedro C!!
I carve bone and horn and know from experience that horn can have a small fracture that looks like part of the horn itself unless checked closely. That said, it's really durable and strong for thumb rings etc. Many cultures have used both bone and horn for nocks on arrows, you just need to check them as you would any nock that your shooting!! Congrats on your new Nomad KTB!! I've been interested in this bow and would like to hear what you think of it.
Hi Pedro C!! Please use caution when using horn nocks unless you have experience with them.
Check out Sebastian Plum's video on YouTube!! If you're a member here Sebastian I'm sorry for your loss!!
Very interested!! Hope that it comes to fruition!!
