Freddie Won send me the pictures of the Taegeuk Horn Bow. Its a laminated bow with horn, 49" long, 32" safe draw length, no heat box needed. Very beautiful! Freddie olso sells the SMG now.

Unfortunately I can only buy what JVD brings. I am yet to determine if they sell only stocked or they can arrange a retail order (through my dealer). They import Freddies' Nomads so I have a chance.

There is a "Horn Bow" sold over at Freddies'site koreanbow.com. Taegeuk Horn Bow (Gakgung). Looks nice. Anyone owned or used one? Days are closing and I'm looking for a new bow. Hwarang and SMG are not "accessible" for my dealer. Very strict laws here. Most important: Any one knows its MAX DRAW LENGTH?

Around Ancient Olympia an ecological club ("Rommel"?) have freed hundreds of owls and hawks. They are everywhere and  they don't fear men. We also have ducks and the bird who carries the babies, don't remember english name for it.

Interesting video Nick, nice compare. I saw how you string hand returns / move back / follow the arrow (sorry for my English, I do not how to call it) at the moment of before shot.

Thanks. Yes I have the habit of that. I didn't even know it. I'll remember to correct it next session and see how it goes.

Can I ask you? With such a heavy bow (60@28 must be over 70@31) do you have the perfect form and draw calmness? Don't you have any shake duo to drawing near your limits? Watch my hands how much they shake: https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=you … A6DxMG9_HU

Can't fix the draw weight but I think I have done some progress. I'm considering a 10 pounds lighter for my next buy.

Hello. I am going to stop fletching with my hands...   tongue
I was thinking of a Cartel Midas MXs. Should I fletch them to fly clockwise (right fletching) or left? (Right hand draws /  on the right side of the bow). My old arrows where left helical BUT I had used right wing 3x3". Not the perfect flight. Please enlighten me!!! One other thing... 2315 are a little overspined, if I use 125gr points instead of 80gr and give a little extra length 0,5" and loose some back side of arrow weight, you think they'll fly o.k.?

In their .pdf GungSulWon say that they make only the horn bows/warbows and that they retail other makers' laminated bows without stating which ones'. I don't remember their price tho...

My first KTB came with a lamination failure. Before I try to string it I bent the limbs (as I do every time before stringing, I bent the limbs just a little as a worm up or a test if you will) and as if normal, the leather backing tore apart and reviled the lamination fault. The second KTB was just fine untill I placed a new grip and over draw(?) it... I don't know why... It broke at full draw, still got the string wipping mark on my hand. It was such a nice grip from my good old SKB.

I would like sometime on the weekend to sit down comfortably on my armchair and watch a Korean Traditional Archery Game. Not those 5 minute clips on YouTube, but a real whole game 1-2-3- what ever-hours long. Even if its going to be in Korean, I don't mind. Do you guys know any links for something like it?

Hello guys.

I was wondering what is your opinion on the subject of archery vs back pains and more specifically lower back pains.
I have both a nerve between two spine bones and often injured muscles etc (I need to do an MRI). I don't hurt much and not very often so I haven't got to check it properly YET. Planning to do it this year tho.

I can't say I have noticed any dramatic change with archery neither helps nor the opposite. Or maybe if I didn't do archery I might have been worse...

PS. Amongst other kinds of work I do, wedding videography and water packs lifting are the worst for my back.

I used to live in a town were I had to drive to the stadium to shoot my bow, and only in the early morning before the Volleyball and Basketball teams arrive for their training. Once a week did I. Now that I moved to a village and have my own field near my house I just don't. I hope now that the damn heat will pass and autumn comes I might find the time and will...

Dedicated archery accessories are expensive. Low demand = low production = higher cost.

I lite a candle and let it drip melted paraffin on the string... but still the result looked nothing like a new and waxed string... I'll try wax block next time.

How many of you guys wax your strings?  wink  Any one use paraffin wax? Can you find bee wax? Do you use dedicated bow string wax? Any questions?
My SKB I have waxed with paraffin a couple of times.

But if 9mm is not enough, you could always move up to .45 ACP...

I think your bow has a couple more inches of draw. Here is a picture drawing my KTB. In the photo my draw is 30 inches. I usually draw it to 31. It's the max draw for the 48 inch.

More reflex = more stored energy = more speed = armor penetration (war times). About the historical warbow: Materials same as hornbow?

(5 replies, posted in Bows)

GungSulWon makes hornbows and warbows.
In one youtube video they show how they make the warbow waterproof. I let them a comment question: what's the difference between the two, other than that and the price. I'll post any answer they give me here. Do you know of the differences that came to the design, after the transition of the Korean bow from a weapon of war and hunting to a sport? At the pick of its use, like in the Imjin War, could there have been many different designs in use?

If any of you gentlemen know or find out the artificial horn bow price I 'd be much obliged to be informed of.

This site sells the bows and names a price. 200 for artificial horn, 250 for carbon and 350 for laminated horn bow.

I'll get back to you with the prices at SMG's own site as soon as they reply ^.^

Thank you!
