I love Korean bows. I have bows Kaya (KTB, WindFighter) and Hwarang (YMG and SMG). I want to buy SMG Bamboo Korean Bow 50 to 60lb (Jukgung). I'm from Czech Republic.

My friend, I sent a PM...

I have a bow Kaya Windfighter 60lb and at the last competition in the Czech Republic (Skalanske vejce) I shot 261m. My record is 310m. Yes, the quality of the arrows is very important. I have bamboo arrows of my own production (split bamboo about 30 grams) and small feathers (pheasant).

Fresh result of the flight to the Czech archery competition Doubravsky bazant (2.7.2016 Ronov nad Doubravou):

Kaya WindFighter 60lb, bamboo arrow 30 "(splitted bamboo) .... 275 m

There is no need to dramatize the cutting feathers manually. In the past it has also been cut by hand (just as they do today). It takes a steady hand and sharp scissors.

That's what I understood from it anyway...

Yes, that's right. Shafts with high spin are obviously more durable. Nodes are but also so fragile. I made for our archery club and friends around 500 arrows for bows from 40 to 80lb. The arrow almost always broke in the node ... Sure but it depends on the type of bamboo. Shafts with high SPINE also have high weight (my arrows for bows 70 to 80lb weigh 700 to 800 grain). With these you can shoot arrows from bows 40 to 45lb. For such bows seems resistant. When shooting from bow 60 to 70lb but reflected the effect of fragile nodes. Fragility affects supplier of shafts - high temperature processing (straightening) = higher fragility of nodes.

Given that the arrows are only slightly heavier spined then the draw weight, will they break at the nodes when shooting at distances of 15m or less?

Bamboo arrows to break the nodes in the case of spine shafts 80lb (or more). Nodes are critical - fragile (hit the target edges, tree branch ...).

So what about arrows that are for example not drawn to 32"? So for instance 29" arrows drawn to 28". What would you do with regards to the spine then? Increase or decrease it?

Bow 38lb, draw 28-29":

Shafts SPINE 40 to 45lb MUST COMPLY. It is good to know that bamboo is not a homogeneous material and also has a bow poundage tolerance + - 10%.

My experience:

45lb bow = shaft spined 55-60lb at 32"draw.
55-60lb bow = shaft 65-75lb at 32"draw.

An important principle:

Arrows shaft should have the same SPINE in one set of arrows. It is best to sort finished arrows in the set (simply test flight characteristics)!

Bamboo shaft are quite tolerant, but it must be sorted. Bambo arrows but never equal carbon arrows (carbon arrows - the same spin, and each arrow perfectly straight ...)!

??? Samick is a different company than Kaya. Kaya KTB is more traditional and better bow.

Sniper Day 8 September 2012 (Czech Republic) - information from the archery competition

Sniper Day was a competition in the traditional archery disciplines around the world:

1) Bhutanese archery (Bhutanese target, 70, 90 and 120 meters)
2) Turkish archery (Puta, 70, 90 and 160 m)
3) Korean archery (Korean standard target 90 and 144 m, extra Korean target 5.7 x 5.7 m to 220 m)
4) Japanese archery (target 34 cm to 28 m, 100 cm target at 60 m, extra Japanese target of 122 cm to 120 m)
5) English Clout 160 m
6) Flight no differences bows and arrows

Interesting results shooters:

a) Standard Korean target 144 meters ... 10 arrows, 6 hits

b) extreme Korean target 5.7 x 5.7 m to 220 m .. 10 arrows, 5 hits

c) Puta 70 m ... 10 arrows, 5 hits

c) Flight (62 lb bow Saluki Turkish and majra .... 506 m, 310 m Kaya KTB)

Majra Shooting:

The best result for shooting standard Korean target (Czech and Slovak archers) is 7 hits of 10 arrows (Mýša - Michal Sodja, Czech Republic) in the competition Pacovské lukobranie 2012 (Slovak Republic).

New Result flight shooting Kaya KTB 55 lbs (split bamboo 30 "long, 340 grain). Arrow is for long-distance target shooting.'s Not typical flight arrow.

The tournament "Sniper Day" September 8, 2012 (Czech Republic)

268 m, 310 m. Above 300m I had 2 arrows. It was not a coincidence.

Bamboo is full of cleaved and polished by hand, not glued on the rod.

30 "long, 45grain point 6mm, maximum diameter 7.5 mm (6.2 grain/lbs)

Kaya is really super bow = super ratio of price and performance.

Great compliment !!!

Result flight shooting Kaya KTB 55lb, target 22 grams bamboo arrows 29" for extra long discipline.

Interestingly the tournament "Pacovske lukobranie" The Slovak Republic was shot flight discipline. Kaya KTB longest range was 262 m. The shortest range was 245 m, and the average range was 250m. With better arrows could be a range of 280-300 meters.

Bow has not been modified, string standard. The result could be better, but even so I am satisfied.

Jchocz - impressive! What are the dimensions? And do you not have problems with arrows falling out / the quiver overbalancing?

Quiver bow under the bow I made Hwarang and Kaya. Dimensions do not know. The quiver of arrows for the top plate of bamboo. Below is a bamboo foam, and that holds arrows. Foam is flexible and arrows holding up well.

I'll be able to offer some feedback shortly, regarding Hwarang and Kaya as my friend has just bought a Kaya.

I have several bows Korean type (Hwarang 45lb and 70lb, 50lb and 55lb Kaya). They are comparable and very good. Hwarang is closer to the original Korean HornBows. Kaya but also shoots very well.

Hi friends, this is my first post here and I started to make a korean quiver. If anyone can help me with some details about how this quiver was made I would appreciate....
We can talk here about the way arrows are hold in, how it's made, what kind of materials... about the strips that hold the quiver...

These are my attempts to quiver for a bow and arrows (Korean style). Does this error, I know.
