The reason I asked is I'm still considering the purchase of either the Hwarang or a Chinese built Mariner Ming Moon 7. I'd probably be happy with either, but just haven't decided. Which would you say is more "user friendly" to the shooter new to these type bows? hmm

Thomas, were the YMG and SMG of the same poundage, and how would you rate smoothness, cast, hand shock, and speed one against the other?

Go all the way ............... thumb ring! wink

If you have a Dremel tool with a carbide cutting wheel AND a disk sander to square the shaft ( or have access to ), you can do it yourself. smile

Odd that your bow had too long a string to start with .................... factory error?  sad

If your' string is THAT much too long it may well have some broken strands or it's material is such that stretches like crazy. Either way string should be replaced with a better quality string that won't stretch so much. Check your brace height EACH time you string your bow. cool

I have arthritis in my left hand (bow hand) so THAT maneuver is out!   lol

It's a movie .................... they can manipulate anything they want. roll  What gets me the most is when they make the bow "creak" when it's drawn (I suppose to imply power in the force of the draw), but this isn't the ONLY movie that does this.

Looks nice ................ but being so short, do you have any problem with the arrows wanting to fall out?
BTW, what bow do you have there?

Welcome to the forum ZZE86. There are others here more knowledgeable than I, but I can give you what I know.  roll
The SMG, HMG, and YMG are all Korean bows, all have "static" tips, and are considered to have the better performance of the Asiatic style bows. They are of glass/bamboo construction (and maybe carbon also)  They can be had longer, but most are around 48". The SMG can be ordered here from Mr. Thomas Duvernay (the chief moderator) www.koreanarchery.org/classic/hwarangbow.html  Look at these Chinese types also ................. www.cinnabarbow.com/marinerbows/index.html  Another bow, which I think would be one to consider, is the Kaya Windfighter.

Mule has it right, it doesn't really matter.  Use a 75 x 105  four fletch and your feathers will be setting the same (in relation to the bow) no matter which way you nock the arrow.
Right now I'm using 3" four fletch and they fly fine.

Vanes won't (normally) shoot well "off the shelf".
