Wooden arrows are great if they are barreled tapered.   big_smile

Good looking arrows!

Just one advice: tie some thread on both side of feathers just for case. Looks traditional and fletchs stay on place...  wink

Bamboo is so hard to find, Ebay maybe, but i will make some wooden arrows, just must order some shafts, i can have them from here Finland...

Any updates Hannu.  Will you make yourself some long bamboo arrows (34")?   big_smile

Anyone has a setup for measuring the draw weight vs length?

The weather is getting cold and the Hwarang becomes much harder to pull than during summer.  Ginni has the same experience.  What about others?

During summer, I could draw the long version of the 70-5#  YMG to 32".  Right now, the winter weather is making it very difficult to draw past 31"  Unfortunately, I do not have a bow weight scale.

The next task is to find 34" bamboo shafts to match the KTB  big_smile !

Thomas, have you had a chance to draw the reproduction wood bow?  If you had the chance, was the draw smooth?

Has any of the Korean bowyers made replicas of Korean military bows?

Thomas, slightly off topic.  Will we expect improvements in the KTB and Khan for the 2012 year?  Will we ever see the Dong Yi in production again?

Indeed, this is excellent news!  I wish I can move to Orange County  big_smile .

Someone might try out a trigger release and a D loop.  The result should even be better  big_smile .

I have only shot a few shots with the Khan as I have an injury in my left shoulder (bike accident) which hurt when drawing.

But I do notice that the Khan has some serious potential.

Did You have any chance to do some chronoing?  I'm very interested in how much energy the Khan may deliver at various draw lengths and arrow weights.

I was wondering. With a draw lenght at max 31". How much energy could the KTB or Hwarang deliver at what power (40#, 50# etc.)

Eugen,

Did you draw to your usual 33" to achieve those speeds?

With the KTB, you will need a 35" arrow  big_smile .

Congrat on drawing to 30" with the Kassai Bear!  I saw your new video  smile .

I had draw lenght about 27", even with thumbring.

Now i have been practising Korean style, and with my 80#@30" hungarian bow i now draw that 30".  big_smile

Can´t wait for my Kaya KTB 55#, i probably can draw that 32".

Yes please.   smile

Impressive!

Maybe this straw plate and a bale of hay behind will do the job?  http://felszerelesek.lovasijaszat.hu/fe … amp;lang=2

Thomas, do you still have photos of the penetration test you did with the bodkin tipped arrows?

It's hard to say.  However, one thing I'll mention is that bodkins will completely pierce thirty layers of ballistic Kevlar.

Thanks Thomas!

What type of targets do you guys recommend for receiving the impact of bodkin tipped arrows?  Straw type?  And where to get them?  If long bodkins hit solid metal or rock, the slender tips could easily bend or break.  Thanks!

Thomas, I get the bodkins from 3 Rivers Archery as well.  I will contact hexshafts about custom length wood shafts.   smile

I just received a dozen long and short bodkin arrow heads.  Where do you folks think is the best place to get 33.5" spined and weighted wood shafts in North America?  Getting wood shafts from the UK is too expensive in terms of shipping.  The bodkins fit 11/32" shafts.  What diameter of wood shafts will make a flush fit?  Thanks!

Thanks!  I am thinking about 4 fletches because I don't have to juggle with the hen fletch.

Traditional Korean arrows are 4" pheasant fletched, three per arrow.I cut mine to roughly 1/4 - 3/8 in height.

Yes, the long version can be drawn to 35".  The problem is finding a source of 35.5" carbon arrows.

If the manufacturer can make a barrelled and 35" version for very strong bows, there will be buyers . . .

Can anyone help with locating a source for very long, 35", carbon arrows for the Hwarang bow?
